The use of engraving wax paper

Engraving wax paper is a kind of traditional water-based silk screen printing plate material that has been used for a long time. Because it is not subject to restrictions such as water and electricity, many people still prefer to use it, because it is easy to use and is particularly suitable for urgent and simple graphic screen printing jobs.

Engraved wax paper consists of a base film (transparent film) and a green clear paint film.

Preparation tools, materials: sharp knife, glass plate (area larger than the manuscript and wax paper), small tape, cotton ball, banana water, varnish...

The use of glass plates is convenient for engraving operations.

Use a small piece of tape to fix (stick) the stencil to the glass, cover the stencil with a properly sized engraved wax paper (upside of the paint film), and attach (stick) it to the glass with a small tape.

Use a sharp guillotine to sculpt on the film according to the manuscript text and pick the graphic part. You can also use engraving machine engraving.


Put a stretched, washed, and air-dried screen plate on the engraved wax paper. Hold the screen plate close to the green film. Use a cotton ball to dipped a little banana water and lightly press on the screen to make the paint. The film slightly dissolves and sticks to the screen. If you use too much banana water, you will lose the thin lines and stick the cotton ball with your fingers.

After drying naturally, the substrate is gently peeled off and repaired with a varnish is a screen printing plate.

The screen printing plate made of engraved wax paper is suitable for use as a water-based version, and is most commonly used for printing clothing, cartons, and the like.

If you want to reuse the screen plate, wash the fabric with banana water to remove the paint film.
